Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering from Squid

How do I place an order? +

Pretty easy…just sign up for a membership and gain access to our member only ordering system to start setting up your print jobs.

Can I just email you my order? +

Nope. To keep our ridiculous pricing as low as possible, this is a self serve platform. You set up and place your own orders through our ordering platform. It’s easy.

What are your turnaround times? +

As quick as possible, but this depends on your order. You can pay slightly more for fast turnaround times of as little as 1 - 2 days on most products.

Will I receive an order confirmation via email? +

Always. Once an order is placed an email confirmation will be sent to you along with a copy of your receipt.

Can I cancel my order? +

No way, sorry. We are so fast at what we do that once orders are placed in our online system, they are automatically submitted into the production queue. Orders cannot be cancelled at this time.

Do you offer payment terms or credit? +

We have such ridiculously low prices, so we do not offer terms or credit. It’s a pay-as-you-go system.

Will I receive an invoice once I place an order? +

You will receive a receipt when payment is received through the shopping cart.

How do I reprint my order? +

You’re just gonna have to re-submit your order. Our volumes are huge so we don’t  keep files.

Can I place an order by phone? +

Nope. It’s not like ordering pizza. We ask that you use our easy to use ordering system online.

Where's my order? +

After placing an order, you can check it out 24 hours a day from your Order History page. If something doesn’t seem right, contact us and we’ll figure it out with ya!

The order I received is not complete. Help!! +

Chances are we shipped some of your items separately. To see if that’s what happened, review your Order History. Of course, if something doesn’t seem right, contact us and we’ll get to the bottom of it.

My order hasn't arrived, what do I do? +
It is our priority to get you your order fast and correct. If it’s past the deliver by date and you have not received it please contact us right away and we’ll do our very best to make it right.
How are your prices so low? +
We know right?? We use our massive buying power with the nation’s largest Trade Printers (closed to the public), and we make them an offer they can’t refuse. Then we share the savings directly with you.
Do you still have specials now that pricing is at cost? +
For sure! Often we will have specials but the only way to find out is to sign-up with our newsletter. We will send you these amazing discounts as they become available.

Artwork Help

Do you have any tips for file preparation? +
Yeah, just follow our file preparation guidelines for each particular job you are working on. If you’re unfamiliar with how to prepare a file for print, just do a little research or talk to a graphics expert who can help you prep the files.
What type of files do you accept? +
Preferred file type is Adobe PDF. Acceptable applications for Mac & PC include (but are not limited to) Quark Xpress, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe PDF. We cannot guarantee consistent results if files are generated by other applications like Microsoft Publisher. For best results, all rasterized files should be converted to CYMK. All fonts must be included or embedded. Images must be flattened with CMYK in TIFF or EPS format.
What is a bleed? +
Bleed is the extension of color or graphics which extend beyond the cut edge of your printed product. Typically this is .125 inches.
What should be the resolution of my files? +
Our expert opinion is to use 300 dpi as a resolution in your files.
Can I resize my 72 dpi artwork to 300 dpi? +
Only if your image is significantly larger than the final size you desire. As the image is reduced in its dimensions it will become cleaner. We recommend that you do this resizing in Photoshop and filter the image to clean it.
How should I set up my artwork for a Spot UV job? +
For spot UV please supply the desired spot uv area as a separate file per side of your job. All areas that will have spot uv applied should be only 100% black, not rich black.

Finishing Help / Options

What do the different coating options mean? +

AQ: Has a semi-gloss look and is the most commonly ordered.

UV: Coating has a very glossy and shiny look.

Silk Laminated: These business cards have a silky lamination which also offers better durability.

What is scoring? +

Scoring is the creasing of cardstock to avoid the cracking that will sometimes occur when card stock is folded against the grain. As paper is cut to your finished size it becomes impossible to guarantee grain direction for all pieces, therefore scoring or creasing it is needed.

What is a perforation? +

Perforation is the process of placing mirco-cuts into the paper to enable it to tear apart easily.

Is your AQ Coating writeable? +

Yep. However we do not recommend gel pens with any of our finishes.

I am a tax exempt and/or a reseller customer. How do I collect a refund for the taxes I paid? +

Tax exempt/reseller customers that qualify for an exemption of sales tax may request a refund for any sales tax paid on their orders.

To qualify for exemption, a tax exempt/reseller customer will need to provide Squid Circle customer service with the receipt received at the end of the order and proof of tax exempt status (e.g. exemption certificate or equivalent proof of exempt status) to request a refund of the sales tax paid. Once the tax-exempt documentation has been approved, you are not required to submit it again for subsequent orders until such time as the documentation expires. Please contact Squid Circle customer service to initiate a sales tax refund request.
